This thesis describes designing and development the chair designed for specific musician, primarily for banjo or other instruments playing. The aim was to make a functional seat, which ensures comfort and helps the musician to focus his attention on the performance. The designer takes into consideration the right playing banjo position, body ergonomics, some of already made and used music chairs together with requirements and dimensions of the owner´s body. The result of this thesis is X-shaped folding chair with higher level seat, with belt footrest, backrest and without armrests. Solid beech wood, beech plywood and steel were used for making this chair. When making this chair typical furniture technologies and methods were used.

In this diploma thesis the author follows up on her previous bachelor thesis and makes improvement of earlier functional model of a chair for particular musician. It was intended for banjo and similar instruments playing. The aim of this thesis is to eliminate some problems, which appeared at the functionel model, and to solve the technical part of the production. The output of this thesis are materials for serial production. The basic design of the letter X is still the same. It is possible to fold the chair and transport it like that. The aim of this work is also to improve details of the chair and unite it´s design. The result of this thesis is the foldable chair made primarily of beech veneer materials.
