Natura 2000 and its impact on farming

Natura 2000 is the system of protected areas, which are constituted by the states of European Union and its target is to protect the most valuable and the most endangered animal and plant species and biotopes. The goal of this bachelor´s thesis is to analyse the positive and negative aspects of the system Natura 2000 in connection with agro-environmental subsidies and analyse the opinions of the farming subjects regarding the Natura 2000 limits. Theoretical part of this work characterized the system Natura 2000, its historical development and appropriate legislative. Further the influence on the agricultural economy in the area and agro-environmental subsidies was described. Practical part was focused on questionnaire investigation among the users of this agricultural areas belonging to the system Natura 2000 in the South Bohemia, mainly in the connection with agro-environmental subsidies. The results show, that the farmers do not see the Natura 2000 system and farming within the limits and compensations entirely positively; the majority of the investigated expressed the opinion that they are limited by Natura 2000 and that these limits are not fully compensated.
