The goal of this dissertation was to assess the impact of the stable environment on the breathlessness of horses. Breathlessness is a lay term for COPD, i.e. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The anatomy and physiology of respiration of horses and the COPD are concisely described in this dissertation. The dissertation also deals with preventive measures taken in stables and the basic parameters and the microclimate of stables. The measurements were carried out in each season of the year over a period of one years. The measurements took place in 8 stables and were carried out on 16 horses, 8 of whom were healthy and the other 8 were suffering from COPD. The horses breath, pulse and temperature were measured at different levels of physical aktivity. The microclimate of each stable was also measured. The results were statistically evaluated and verbally commented on the knowledge gained from literature searches.

This thesis focuses on the topic of influence of the stable environment on the shortness of breath of horses. What is today simply called shortness of breath used to be called RAO in the past and nowadays the abbreviation COPD, which stands for Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, is used. The anatomy of the respiratory system and the physiology of breathing of horses are briefly characterized here. The disease COPD is thoroughly analyzed here together with its etiology, symptomatology, diagnostics, treatment and prognosis. The prevention of diseases in stables and its parameters are addressed here. Research was conducted by means of a questionnaire, which was completed by the owners of both healthy horses and horses suffering from the COPD. The results were evaluated only on the basis of horses affected by COPD.

Analysis of contemporary state and suggestions for future development of chosen firm

The aim of my theses is an analysis of contemporary state of chosen firm and the comparison between contemporary requirements of customers and the capacity of this firm. As a result of this theses I suggest an improvement of management processes and organizational structure of the firm. These suggestions should lead to meeting customer´s needs and firm´s competitiveness.I have suggested 3 ways to solve the problems. Suggestion number 3 was the most suitable one, because it has resulted in an organizational structure as for the volume of orders on one side and the height of profits on the other.
