In this bachelor thesis I focus on the role of the social worker in field hospice care. In the theoretical part I deal with historical knowledge, description of the hospice care and with palliative care including multidisciplinary team. I deal with the characteristics of a social worker, his personal assumptions and competencies. I mention the supervision and the burnout syndrome which cannot be omited in this area. I also describe the form of the social work including the hospice care. This includes admission to service, accompaniment and a follow-up care for the survivors. In the empirical part of my bachelor thesis I deal with setting the gole and three research questions. The aim is to find out what role the social worker has in field hospice care. I used a quality research strategy for my thesis. The research was conducted in the sommer months of 2020 in six field hospices in the South Bohemian region. I used the technique of the semi-structured interview to map and collect the necessary information. I chose the open coding method to evaluate the data. As a result I got the conclusion that the addressed social workers in the field hospice care hold many functions. They are in charge of admissions agenda including examination in the patient´s natural enviroment. They support the caring family and the sick client, provide basic, professional and psychosocial counselling. They also focus on informing the users of the service. A social worker holds following functions: administrative worker, mediator, supporter, controller, educator.
