SPÁLENKOVÁ, Zuzana
This bachelor thesis focuses on the activation of clients with mental disorders, as well as on the motivation strategies secured by social workers and other professionals. It aims to analyze ways of providing activation to clients of the Czech non-profit organization Fokus České Budějovice, South Bohemia. Additionally, the thesis discovers motivations of clients with mental health conditions to participate in activating activities. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part describes relevant mental disorders and specific strategies of social work with clients with mental conditions. In the practical part, the author seeks to answer the main research question: How is activation of clients with mental disorders performed? Secondary research question 1: How are clients motivated to participate in activation and what motivates them? Secondary research question 2: What obstacles restrict the activation? Secondary research question 3: Which benefits are identified by clients and professionals? The research reveals that activating activities is provided in the Fokus organization within the frame of modern community care, but family should be involved deeper. The motivation is developed through a close relationship between the client and the worker, in which unconditional acceptance is present. This bachelor thesis will serve as a feedback to the Fokus organization, as well as a study to other providers of care to clients with mental conditions, comparing services and strategies for activation and motivation of clients.
