History of nursing professionals in pediatrics

The bachelor work focuses on historical evolution of specialized nurse practitioners in pediatrics - from general caretakers to the origins of pediatric nurse as an independent profession. The work presents necessary preparations, working conditions and responsibilities and how they changed throughout the times. The main aim of the work titled ,,Historie osetrovatelskych pracovniku v pediatrii" was to map the evolution of nurse practitioners from the beginning to the present state, to overview the chief influences that formed the profession and last but not least, to present the current state of pediatric (or children's) nurse in the Czech republic and stress her importance in the field of specific nurse practice. Methods and Objective: The bachelor work is mainly theoretical as the method used was historical research in conjunction with literature review. Furthermore, the analysis was performed on the contents of historical and current literature and legislation, archives and the results from the literature reviews. The correct interpretation and transformation of the results into the self-contained scientific study was the assignment as well as the aim of this bachelor work. The bachelor thesis deals with the origin and historical development of nursing staff in pediatrics. It slightly touches into the present and compares some historical sections along with it. The aim of the work is to map the development of nursing workers from the beginning to the present, to point out their living conditions and to offer an overview of the events that helped to this development. The work is theoretical. A qualitative research survey was carried out to achieve the goal and a content analysis of the data was performed. Her work was based on historical and contemporary literature, Czech legislation, articles and monographs. The introduction of the thesis is devoted to defining concepts such as pediatrics and nursing in pediatrics. It also describes the attitude of the child in society across the time period and the reason for the need to create nursing staff directly devoted to children. The chronological development of nursing staff, history of education and living conditions are described. The result of the thesis is to provide a comprehensive overview of the development of nursing staff, to point to dramatic development especially in the 19th century and to compare with the current state.
