Singularities in annual cycle of climatic variables, their long-term changes and relationships to atmospheric circulation
Radová, Michaela ; Kyselý, Jan (advisor) ; Kalvová, Jaroslava (referee)
In this thesis a statistical detection of singularities (strong deviations from the smoothed mean annual cycle of a climatic variable) was performed on the basis of mean daily air temperature at the Prague - Klementinum station over the period 1881-2000. A temporal stability of all singularities was investigated, and probabilities of the occurrence of the strongest ones and some of the most often mentioned ones were determined. Long-term changes of occurrence of these singularities and their relationships to atmospheric circulation were analyzed. The results show that the temporal stability (annual recurrence as well as regular occurrence at specific calendar days of a year) cannot be assumed for most singularities. Moreover, some of the singularities found using this procedure can generally be just statistical properties of a chosen sampling without relationships e.g. to circulation conditions. That is why it is not proper to look for singularities tied closely to a specific date and use only one reference period for their detection. Variability of atmospheric circulation is the main source of long-term changes of the occurrence of examined singularities.
Cloud-top morphology of convective storms as observed by meteorological satellites

Title: Cloud-top morphology of convective storms as observed by meteorological satellites Author: Michaela Radová Department: Department of Atmospheric Physics Supervisor: RNDr. Martin Setvák, CSc., Czech Hydrometeorological Institute Abstract: This work focuses on study of features occurring at tops of convective storms, namely embedded warm areas, cold rings, cold-U/Vs and overshooting tops (OTs), mainly from the perspective of satellite observations. We have assembled a database of 104 subjectively detected cold rings and cold-U/Vs from the area of Europe. We discuss relationship between satellite- observed brightness temperature and cloud top height determined from radar measurements for storms with distinct cold-rings. Our results support the hypothesis that the warm area is a consequence of presence of central elevated dome reaching warmer lower stratosphere. Moreover, a storm with transformation of cold ring into cold-U is studied and an elevated plume above storm anvil in the warmer lower stratosphere is found to be a likely explanation of the warm area inside the cold-U. Both analyses confirm that thermal inversion above the tropopause is a necessary prerequisite for occurrence of cold rings and cold-U/Vs. We also propose a method for automated objective determination of spatial characteristics of...
The Media image of Czech post in years 2012 - 2017
Radová, Michaela ; Vlasák, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Hodboď, Vojtěch (referee)
My bachelor study deals with description and evaluation of media image of Czech Post in particular nationwide dailies during the time period from 2012 to 2017. For better contextual understanding the examination exceeds partly also into year 2018. The main goal of study is to examine whether the media image of Czech state postal service and its reputation during the given period were constant or variable (f.e. with regard to current events in this company), coherently it can be also examined whether a tendency is obvious and if such tendency is increasing or declining. The study is divided into two parts. In theoretical part the history of Czech Post is briefly described with stress on the development from 1990s, subsequently the recent business of Czech Post including its management and enterprise development from year 2010 is dealt with. A section is focused on theoretical definition of media image including employed theories, and an overview of examined periodicals: daily Mladá fronta DNES and daily Právo. In the prologue of the second practical part the used methodology is explained. Subsequently, individual contributions are examined using the quantitative and qualitative content analysis. Selected media contributions are elaborated using Newton Media Search database, which records the...
