Influence hematological and biochemical parameters by different dogs.
Pechová, Eva ; Fučíková, Alena (advisor) ; Václav, Václav (referee)
The topic of this diploma work was to evaluate the hematological and biochemical indicators of various breeds of dogs. The aim of this work was to evaluate the blood samples taken from 10 dogs and 10 bitches of various breeds and find out the dependency of values in relation to their age, nutrition and sex. The samples were processed and evaluated from May to October 2015. The following was examined from the hematological indicators: RBC, HGB, HCT, MCV, WBC and a blood smear was made, from which a differential count of leucocytes was made. Furthermore, the following biochemical indicators were examined: TP, GLU, CHOL and ATP. The literature research first focused on the basic components of dog feed. Moreover, the hematological and biochemical indicators of blood as well as the methodology of the whole experiment were described. The results were processed with the aid of the RStudio program and the following basic statistical characteristics were counted: median, minimum, maximum and standard deviation. The ANOVA statistical method was used, in which the dependency of values among sex, age category and the type of feed fed to the animals was determined. Furthermore, the values among the breeds were compared. From the differences observed among the breeds, there was an increase in red blood cells in German Shepherds and Dobermans. Dobermans, Labrador Retrievers and German shepherd crossbreeds had increased values of ALT. Significant findings showed that there was an increase in the number of red blood cells and hematocrits in subjects fed with granulated feed as opposed to subjects with a combined diet. The difference was also observed for MCV between the genders. Differences between the genders were found for ALT values. More data would be needed to confirm the relationship to age. ALT values are dependent on the type of feed, where the values are higher in subjects fed with a completely granulated diet. The values of total protein increased in dogs with age. This trend is likely to be observed in bitches. For subjects fed a combined diet (granulated feed + home diet) an increase in the value of total protein was observed with age. For subjects fed granulated feed, this increase was not as significant.
Evaluation of local muscular load off upper limbs in dental laboratory technician
PECHOVÁ, Eva
In the working environment we face lots of danger factors. A danger factor of local muscular load is still a big problem. At the work of dental laboratory technicians an enormous one-sided loading of upper extremities occurs, consequently vocational diseases may occur as well. It depends on the individual perception of load at each of us and on our working capacity. The absence of well-being resulting from the influence of danger factors on our organism leads to a number of various health problems, inadequate workload, fatique, and unpleasant feelings. Non- respecting the ergonomic requirements may also have negative impact on the health of workers. It may prove e.g. by an increasing number of work injuries, by problems with disorders of muscular and skeletal system, by overloading of muscular groups as a logical consequence of one-sided, long-term and excessive muscular load. In its theoretical part my bachelor´s work supported by literature available summarizes basic information on the problems of local muscular load. It focuses first of all on the characteristics of individual danger factors, on the basic pieces of knowledge of anatomy of upper limb, it describes physical load, some vocational diseases and also basic ergonomic requirements. The practical part is aimed at setting up a hypothesis concerning health danger resulting from local muscular load of upper extremities at dental laboratory technicians, evaluation of health danger of this factor of working conditions for classifying the work. For meeting the target of research three hypotheses were determined. The method of qualitative research was chosen {--} especially the secondary analysis od data. The research was carried out in the district of České Budějovice and four workers of a dental laboratory took part in it. On the basis of assessed data all three hypotheses were confirmed. The results proved that the work of dental laboratory technicians is danger work, local muscular load of upper extremities reaches a higher degree and values which enable to place it in the third category. The bachelor´s work may contribute to better knowledgeability of health danger. The suggested measures may help improve working conditions at a particular workplace
Media coverage of the prevention of health problems in selected Czech newspaper and their online forms for the year 2010.
PECHOVÁ, Eva
The authoress of the diploma thesis aims to determine if it is possible for the public to learn serious information by means of media, i.e. information related to the prevention of health problems, and to monitor the state of medialisation of these problems by setting partial targets. The objective of the diploma thesis is to discover if media address such topics which should be medialised, in the view of statistically most frequent causes of death and the perspective of prevention and protection of the public health. The nature of significant health problems and the prevention of what topics should appear in daily newspapers have been determined in accordance with epidemiologic data and frequency of diseases which have been the most common causes of death in the Czech Republic in the long term, and which are summarized, inter alia, in mortality tables of the Czech Statistical Office. Another partial objective is to establish what types of themes appear most frequently, to determine the differences between the online and printed forms of media, and to discover who the authors engaging in these problems are. Two dailies were selected for our research - MfDnes (with its regional supplement Jižní Čechy) and the regional Českobudějovický deník in the printed form, including their supplements, including some of their thematic web pages. The research has also examined three independent magazines. The present diploma thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a research part. The theoretical part summarizes - based on the study of available literature and secondary data analysis - basic information regarding the problems of health and illness, prevention, media, the most common causes of death in the Czech Republic, briefly characterizing individual diseases and risk factors of their origin, as being familiar with such facts is essential for their prevention. The research part approaches the collection and evaluation of data in a combined manner. First, data were collected and studied by analysing documents. Afterwards, data were evaluated by means of qualitative statistics, whereas the methods of so-called descriptive statistics were utilized. The quantitative content analysis - which is usually used for the research into mass media - was used for analysing articles. The acquired data were tested statistically by bivariate analysis method. Copies of dailies and their magazines from 2010 were found in the Research Library of South Bohemia. News servers and thematic web pages were browsed by means of media archive.Individual objectives of the diploma thesis have been met. The reached conclusion stipulates that on the one hand, media do address the prevention of significant health problems; on the other hand, they fail to interconnect it with concrete diseases to an adequate extent. The medialisation of topics related to neoplasms is insufficient. Moreover, the thesis has discovered that the most common themes that media engage in are related to the problems of nutrition/overweight and slimming, both in the online and printed forms of all media analysed. It has been determined that the representation of article topics differ for individual media analysed. The most frequent authors of such articles are women. In most cases, there are most often two or three authors who participate in the medialisation of prevention of health problems. In the authoress?s view, the present diploma thesis may provide feedback to authors who examine issues of the prevention of health problems. In addition, with its illustrative overview of the most common causes of death in the Czech Republic, the thesis might highlight the necessity of medialisation of prevention of some themes; and, contrariwise, it could pinpoint less important, but frequently medialised themes, which take up too much space in both printed and online media.
