Microdosimetry distributions of energy depositions by charged particles in liquid water and water vapor

Frequency and dose distributions of deposited energy were modeled for protons and alpha particles with energies between 1 to 10 MeV/amu. Calculations were performed for spherical volumes with radii 1nm to 1um. Mean values and shapes of distributions were compared for liquid water and water vapor.

Presented work deals with theoretical analysis of deposited energy distribution as a function of sensitive volume dimensions. As an input data, particle tracks simulated using the MC code TRIOL are used. The frequence and dose lineal energy distributions calculated for spherical sites of 3, 30, and 1000 nm diameters for electrons, protons, alfa particles are presented and discussed.
