Burnout syndrome at a social workers
PLUNDRICHOVÁ, Milena
The bachelor thesis examines the burn-out syndrome and its issues. It first inspects it from the overall concept, then it concentrates on the specificity of burn-out syndrome by the social workers. The aim of the thesis is to summarize this phenomenon from the view of current scientific research. In the beginning of the thesis I explore the definition and the meaning of the burn-out syndrome. Then I dedicate the signs and causes of the syndrome with all its variations, which are mainly oriented to the social workers. Then there are the risk factors and the many phases of the evolution process. The next important part of the theoretical section is prevention and overcoming of the burn-out syndrome. The research section pursues the qualitative survey. The survey was lead with the structured interviews with open questions. The interviews were made with ten social workers from different fields. The results were determined by the gained data and their comparisons. The research results demonstrate that burn-out syndrome symptoms were seen in all the social workers who were involved. These were manifested primarily on the mental level and they were very individual. The physical symptoms were for example headaches, backpain and general exhaustion. As a prevention the respondents have given preferences to supervisions and lectures about this topic. They further mentioned the separation of personal and work life, determination of clear borderlines, good relations with their family and colleagues, as well as relaxation, sports, and leisure time.
