Spatial and temporal changes of benthic macroinvertebrate assemblages in acidified streams in the Bohemian Forest (Czech Republic)
PELTANOVÁ, Jana
Two outflows from atmospherically-acidified Čertovo and Laka lakes in the Bohemian Forest in the Czech Republic were surveyed in 2005 and 2007. Water chemistry and macrozoobenthic community composition in longitudinal gradient of both streams were analyzed to determine the present status of the streams. Streams' chemistry reflects the current situation of both lakes. The progress in chemical reversal to natural conditions was observed in longitudinal gradients of both streams (greatly induced by chemically-inert tributaries). Macrozoobenthic recovery was evident only in Laka Lake´s outlow, mainly by increasing Ephemeroptera and Trichoptera taxonomy richness in longitudinal gradient. In Čertovo Lake´s outflow, there were no considerable changes in benthic community composition, because chemistry in the whole locality of Čertovo Lake was limiting for acidosensitive taxons.
Effect of D8 motorway salting in the winter months: Results of monitoring the species composition and abundance of aquatic organisms in adjacent streams during the 2020 growing season.

The aim of the report is to document the effect of chloride toxicity on aquatic organisms in the recipients in the vicinity of the D8 motorway, km 48,276 - 64,689, where the motorway passes through the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area. The summary of the achieved results for the vegetation season 2020 is the content of the presented report.
Seasonal development, long-term changes and effect of extreme events on macrozoobenthos of acidified brooks in headwater catchments of Litavka, the Brdy Mountains
Beneš, Filip ; Tátosová, Jolana (advisor) ; Peltanová, Jana (referee)
This Master thesis was focused on seasonal development of macrozoobenthos for season 2009-2010, its long-term changes and effects of extreme events on acidified brooks in headwater catchments of the Litavka river in the Brdy Mountains (the Czech Republic). The extreme events are considered: drought, floods and deforestation. Changes in composition of macrozoobenthos were compared with the previous research, which was provided there for season 1999-2000. Headwater catchment of the Litavka river consist of two streams: strongly acidified Litavka-krmelec (LK) and slightly acidified Litavka-hlavní (LH), which is taken as a reference stream. Measured pH levels of LK were in range of 4,00-4,22 (with median 4,10) and concentration of reactive aluminium (R-Al) were in range of 1381-2187 µg.L-1 (with median 1692 µg.L-1 ). Measured pH levels of LH were in range of 4,74-6,22 (with median 5,62) and concentration of reactive aluminium (R-Al) were in range of 8-400 µg.L-1 (with median 33 µg.L-1 ). Concentrations of R-Al are observed due to toxic forms of Al3+ ions on aquatic organisms. The significant differences in composition of macrozoobenthos were also observed. On strongly acidified study site LK were not present acidosensitive groups, such as mayflies, molluscs and some species of caddisflies. All of these...
Structural changes of macrozoobenthic communities in longitudinal profiles of acidified streams in the Bohemian Forest (Czech Republic)
PELTANOVÁ, Jana
Structural changes in macrozoobenthic communities and changes in chemistry in longitudinal profiles of two acidified streams in the Bohemian Forest (Czech Republic) were investigated in 2007. The progress in chemical recovery was evident in both streams, whereas zoobenthos recovery was obvious only in less acidified stream.
