PEITZOVÁ, Karolina
This thesis seeks to present the means of physiotherapy in positively influencing lower back pain during the last trimester of pregnancy, which is one of the most common complications of the musculoskeletal system during pregnancy. The objective of this thesis is to explore the physiotherapy methods suitable for women in the third trimester of pregnancy and to describe changes observed during the therapy. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the anatomy and function of the spine the lumbar spine in particular, stages of pregnancy, the associated changes of a mother's organism and the physiology of normal labour and delivery. The theoretical part also mentions the fundamentals of kinesiotherapy during pregnancy, the types of pain and its evaluation and the methods of physiotherapy during pregnancy. The practical part of the thesis contains a qualitative research, which presents three elaborate case studies. All three participants were first time mothers in their last trimester, 29 35 years old. The therapy sessions were taking place once a week for seven weeks. The participants also followed an at-home exercise programme. The research contains kinesiological assessments before and after the therapy, a photo documentation of two of the participants, a short-term rehabilitation plan, the description of the individual therapy sessions, the subjective reviews of the participants, the evaluation of the results, a proposal for a long-term rehabilitation plan and information of the participants' childbirths. The individual therapy sessions combined with the at-home exercising partly relieved the lower back pain. A distinct improvement of body posture, partial relaxation of hypertonic muscles, as well as overall physical and psychological well-being was achieved in all three participants.
