The influence of weather on frequency of suicide in Czech population

This study deals with suicide seasonality and the influence of meteorological and climatological factors on suicide rates in different countries and in the Czech Republic. The results of various statistical methods sometimes indicate statistically significant relationship between meteorological and climatologic factors and suicidality. In the Czech Republic, based on available data for the period from 1. 1. 2002 to 31. 12. 2009, true that increasing the temperature increases in the number of suicides. He went therefore statistically significant positive relationship between average daily temperature and the number of suicides. Further worked, that is about 5% more suicides at average daily temperatures above 18 řC. Also, the average temperature change from day to day has an effect on suicide. Along the linear regression is statistically significantly more suicides when the average temperature change from day to day by more than 2 řC. Furthermore, based on the ratio of the annual running anticyclone and cyclone, it was assumed that the suicide rate is higher during anticyclonic weather type. Linear regression test or 2-square test (chi-square), however, did not confirm anything like that, just as confirmed by the relationship between the duration of sunshine and suicidality in the Czech Republic.
