Myslivcová, Magdalena ; Soukupová, Blanka (advisor) ; Turková, Miloslava (referee)
The thesis on the topic of "The Czech Societ and Maternity" is a micro-probe into the opinions and attitudes of Czech women in the early 21st century towards the questions of maternity. The theoretical part of the thesis provides basic characteristics of the Czech society position on the question of maternity from the point of view of currently valid legislature, demographical behavior of the population, and statistical data over the last two decades. It further presents basic sociological research results on this topic in 2004-2007. The focal point of the thesis is its empirical part which includes the analysis of the author's personal qualitative research carried out on an enclosed sample of women - mothers frequenting the X Maternity Center in the South-bohemian town of Pisek in the period of January 2007-February 2008. The thesis evaluates the subjective reflection of the women on how the Czech society and State assess maternity today, and how the question of maternity is approached by communal policy. Above all, however, the thesis analyses the subjective experience of maternity by the respondents themselves.
