Trembling on the Edge
Šimurdová, Magdaléna ; Morys, Oldřich (referee) ; Ambrůz, Jan (advisor)
A minimalistic site-specific installation situated underground. Perceiving the underground and its interior/exterior boundary. This boundary, an outline of reality, is pierced by a glass rod. The rod is becoming an extension of both the interior and exterior. It becomes the medium between upsides and downsides of one plane through the duality of limited and unlimited space. Bringing light into darkness, movement on the edge of the opposing forces, anticipating the opposite side. A glass rod cutting through a wall is meadiating a fragment of the outside in the form of a light ray/ point. Perceiving of an enclosed space that is seemingly empty until the spectator realises the presence of all the others. The idea of surpassing social intimacy in creating tension. This moment endorses the metonymy of perceiving the environment and own body. The profoundness of consciousness and a need to touch the surface. We are learning about the outside by searching inside.
