Mayboroda, Maxim ; Trávníčková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Dubský, Zbyněk (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of Iraq before and after Operation Iraqi Freedom. The aim of the thesis is to find the answer to the research question of the bachelor thesis: "Is it possible to characterize Iraq as a more collapsed state before or after Operation Iraqi Freedom Operation?" The structure of the text is divided into three main chapters. In order to better understand the issue and problems of the collapsed states, the first chapter deals with the phenomenon of failed states and empirical studies devoted to this topic. The second chapter examines the state of pre-insurgent Iraq, in three aspects - power in the state, inter-ethnic relations and the Kurdish question. The author tries to portray the situation in the country, resulting in the US invasion of Iraq. The third chapter focuses on the state of Iraq's operation after the operation and examines the course of Iraq's development since the end of Operation Iraqi Freedom until the departure of US troops from Iraq in 2011.
