Popliterature of the 1990ies: Christian Kracht, Sibylle Berg, Elke Naters and Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre. Analysis of chosen works and suggestions for working with them during lessons in German as a foreign language.
MELICHEROVÁ, Petra
This thesis deals with analysis of representative works of German pop literature from 1990s Faserland by Christian Kracht, Ein paar Leute suchen das Glück und lachen sich tot by Sibylle Berg, and Königinnen Elke Naters and Soloalbum by Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre. The first part of the thesis contains characterization of pop literature followed by brief summary of significant milestones which led to the foundation of modern pop. In the next chapter varieties of the German language are discribed and characteristics of Anglicisms and trivial literature are introduced. The main part of the thesis is based on the analysis of the above mentioned books with focus on literary and linguistic features, including biographical data of the authors. The aim of this analysis is to find out whether there are similarities in the poetics of pop literature. The thesis also includes suggestions and concrete examples for using the literary texts in the process of teaching German as a foreign language.
