The Viewing Tower in Brdy
Kováčová, Kristýna ; Barnat, Jan (referee) ; Šmak, Milan (advisor)
The subjekt of this thesis is a design of a viewing tower located in the area of Brdy. The structure has been created as a 3D model, the internal forces have been calculated with the use o finite element method in a structural engineering software Scia Engineer 15.1. Based on the knowledge of theses forces the design of the structural systems has been done. The materials used on this construction are glued laminated timber and steel. The height of the tower is 25,725 m. The floor plan is a shape of a circle and fluctuating smaller with the gaining height. The main structural systém consists of 8 curved posts which are radiály situated on the circular floor plan. The tower has 3 observational platforms.
The Footbridge for Pedestrians across the Berounka River
Kováčová, Kristýna ; Buchta, Stanislav (referee) ; Šmak, Milan (advisor)
The aim of the Bachelor´s thesis is a static design of the footbridge for pedestrians across the Berounka river. The structure is created as three-dimensional model. The internal forces are calculated by FEM programme Scia Engineer 15.1. The load-bearing elements are designed with these forces. The length of the footbridge is 12,12 m, width 2,9 m and height 1,5 m. The footbridge is mostly made of glued laminated timber. Others materials are steel and timber. The steel is used fort connectors, wind bracing elements and bracing semi-frames. The construction is solved as timber beam with through-spain. The footbridge consists of two timber beams, floor beams, stringers and wind bracing elements.
Coding of pheromone signal by olfactory receptor neurons in Agrotis ipsilon
Kováčová, Kristýna ; Košťál, Lubomír (advisor) ; Pokora, Ondřej (referee)
i Abstract The main objective of the thesis is to describe differences in the activity of male A. ipsilon olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs) when stimulated by different temporal dynamics of the concentration of the conspecific female pheromone. First, under the artificial situation of constant pulse stimulation, and second, with a fluctuating signal resembling the natural situation. For this purpose, the experimental data were collected in the collaborating laboratory (Dr. P. Lucas, INRAe, Versailles, France) by employing a novel olfactometer system that enables precise temporal control of the pheromone delivery to individual sensilla. Using the R programming language, we analyzed various descriptors of the response reliability, randomness, and variability, as well as the information content of the evoked activity. The results are interpreted in the context of the classical efficient coding hypothesis, which states that sensory neurons are evolutionarily adapted to natural stimuli. The main finding is that although the response variability is widely spread across the ORN population, sometimes with no visible difference between the constant and fluctuating stimulation types, the fluctuating stimulus is usually encoded with systematically higher reliability, as revealed by the inspection of individual ORNs....
