Imaginary Solutions, Imaginary Reports
Vomelová, Lenka ; Kopečková, Veronika (referee) ; Macháček, Mikuláš (advisor)
I created three concepts of books, three possible graphic and book design adaptations of one novel (Tibor Déry, Imaginary reportage of american pop-festival, Budapest 1971). Every book uses a different theme from the book as an inspiration for its graphic design and every book has also a different aimed usage ( format and material of the books are created according to this presumption). First of the book concepts is a little hardy pocket book inspired by Rolling Stones and Altamont festival 1969, the second is common „publisher's“ book inspired by vizuality of 60's and the third one is a bibliophilia, collector's piece inspired by a story of two people. All the books are accompanied with posters describing the basic components and concepts.

In this bachelor’s thesis I am mainly concerned with creating of my own paper-making trade mark under the label of Papíři. It is intended as a small scale experimental stationery as an alternative to common paper production. In the field of book binding I strive for innovation in different types of binding. With respect to maintain the high quality level of products, I prefer the handmade style and a small number of copies made of good materials with the use of my own binding techniques. The part of my bachelor thesis is also devoted to designing of visual style of Papíři label, logotype, website layout with online store, examples of products and proposal of promotion channels.

This thesis is focused on interconnection of literary, visual and material forms. Viktor Dyk’s work Rat Catcher has been graphically edited and completed with original paper illustrations. These were crated using three different editions of the book. They all differenciated by publising style, thypography and paper quality that has been used through 20th century. The choice of specific fragments for specific chapter s allowed for intense connection of visual and literary content.
