Eating Habits of Adolescents, Difference in Approach Between Genders
Černíková, Lucie ; Kalinová, Nelly (advisor) ; Kaiserová, Iveta (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on eating behaviour of adolescents and differences between genders. With concern to examine this behaviour a survey was conducted with respondents of defined age. Questions were put together from two different official questionnaires. First was The Adolescent Food Habit Checklist which is used to evaluate adolescents' eating habits and the second one was Stunkard's Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire which is used regulary in psychiatric practise. This form covers three areas: restriction, disinhibition and hunger. Results didn't show that girls have healtier eating habits than boys nor higher tendency for restriction or disinhibition in case of eating behaviour. Study shown that boys in general tend to feel more hungry. To support or disprove these results more research is needed. keywords: eating behaviours, eating disorders, adolescents, restriction, disinhibition, hunger, body image, obesity
Weight Predictor
Kaiserová, Iveta ; Kádě, Ondřej (advisor) ; Šefc, Luděk (referee)
The incidence of obesity is rising worldwide, and one of the major challenges in its treatment is sufficient motivation to persist in the therapeutic process. The factors determining the success of a reduction attempt are also not entirely clear. Therefore, the aim of the "Weight Predictor" project is to develop software that predicts weight change over time in response to lifestyle interventions, and the aim of the thesis was to define the factors influencing weight reduction by testing two hypotheses: "Younger patients reduce their weight more easily than older patients." and "A cooperative patient reduces their weight more easily than a non-cooperative patient." The daily weight, diet, and steps of 29 patients were collected via mobile and web apps, and body composition was measured at regular nutritional consultations. The collected data were processed through exploratory and correlation analysis. Due to insufficient number of records, two patients were excluded from the analysis of daily records and three patients from the analysis of body composition. First hypothesis was not confirmed, while correlation analysis indicated a higher success rate in older patients, which can be explained by the positive correlation found between age and self-monitoring (r = 0.45, significant at p < 0.05). Analysis of the nutrition of senior citizens in their environment
Kaiserová, Iveta ; Starnovská, Tamara (advisor) ; Vágnerová, Tereza (referee)
Senior citizens living in their own environment make up a large and growing population group. Proper nutrition at this age is gaining in importance as it contributes to maintaining a long and quality life. Therefore, the aim of the thesis was to evaluate the nature and quality of selected senior citizens' nutrition. This aim was divided into three sub-objectives, namely 1) to find out whether the informants' nutrition corresponds to their age and health condition, 2) whether there are factors that influence their nutrition, and 3) what do they follow when purchasing food. The sample consisted of four married couples between the ages of 71 and 75, coming from the Karlovy Vary region, who agreed to participate in a qualitative research. As there are no nutritional recommendations that take into account the ages and diseases most frequently present in the sample, the need for work informants has been formulated on the basis of relevant recommendations concerning seniors and their diseases. Intake data were then obtained through weekly meal records processed in "NutriPro START" software. To obtain anamnestic data, a semi-structured interview has been used. The results show that the diet of the selected seniors rather does not meet the demands based on their age and health, because they mostly receive...
