The thesis deals with the regional identity of the inhabitants of the Šumava foothills. The main goal of the thesis is to identify and evaluate the factors forming regional identity in the Šumava foothills which could be considered as a base for discussions on the possibilities of future regional development of this region. The thesis is based on general assumptions of study of territorial identities and border peripheries, which are based on heuristics of literature discussing the process of forming regional identity, polarization of space, and the problematics of the areas of peripheral and border regions. The assessment of differences of regional identity in continuously inhabited, partly relocated, and resettled areas is component objective which is focused on the definition and assessment categories determining the potential formation of regional identity. Historical-geographical aspects of the population development of the town of Sušice

This bachelor thesis deals with the historical and geographical aspects of population development of Susice. Subsequently, the population development Sušice compared with other selected municipalities. The main emphasis is on the period of the Industrial Revolution, World War II and the current population status. In the introduction are set out the main objectives of this work and there are also outlined basic hypotheses. Subsequently, the work deals with the characteristics of Susice (physical-geographic location, socio-geographic characteristics and historical development of Susice). The following chapter is of special importance, as it deals with the population development analysis of the town Sušice. This section contains a population development analysis of the individual towns, which is then compared to that of several selected municipalities. The synthetic part differentiates among the towns based on the findings from the analytical section. The conclusion offers a summary of the major findings and proposes a population projection. A verification of the hypotheses will be made based on the results of the analysis. The entire bachelor thesis is supplemented by maps, tables and graphs.
