Choice of profession among ninth classes pupils.

Choice of profession among ninth class pupils. The choice of profession affects the future success for people to a certain extent not only in their professional life but also in their personal. An important moment, the so called the first choice of a professional career, is one that elementary school students face at the end of the 9th grade. Most young people choose their professional career without much thought or guidance. Not to mention that people in the age group of 14-16 are not usually interested in their future career and do not want to spend their time studying and preparing for entrance exams, making the time of when choice needs to be made crucial. Therefore one of the counselors that students meet with is a career counselor helping the students decide in what field they would be interested in and directing them toward their future studying goals. The goal of this thesis is to map the factors that affect the students, not necessarily in a positive or negative way, mainly in general the whole affect. Another goal of this thesis is to watch the work of the counselors in their advice to the students in the Beroun elementary schools. Also the following hypotheses{\crq} were made: Hypotheses 1: 9th grade students consider their parents as the main deciding authority when choosing a future profession. Hypotheses 2: The work of the counselors in the Beroun elementary school area is not considered a working profession. Hypotheses 3: When choosing a profession the acceptance rate is also taken into consideration. All of theses Hypotheses{\crq} were affirmed and the goal of this paper completed. The needed information was acquired from students through standard methods of oral questionnaires by the counselors involving 92 students of the 9th grade and 6 counselors from Beroun elementary schools. Only 5% of the students said that their parents did not influence them when choosing their career. That is why I think improvement in parent/counselor communication and cooperation is an important issue to be resolved. Unfortunately mostly every counselor is pressed in the time area and it is required that they use their free time in this aspect as well.
Women and labour market in relation to parenthood

The thesis contains a description of the current situation in combining work and family. Principally, the work focuses on women with small children who are recipients of parental allowance or maternity pay and on the system of family support, in particular, the new three-speed systém of parentel allowance. It also addresses issues faced by mothers upon their re-entry on the labour market. The work´s aim was to establish the extent to which patente take advantage of the option to select the period for which they would benefit from parental allowance and the factors influencing their choice. In order to obtain the data required, women on maternity or parental leave and allowance specialists of the state social support department at the Labour Office in Beroun have been interviewed. Quantitative as well as qualitative research methods have been used. Mothers provided information in questionnaires filled in independently by respondents, semi-controlled interviews with individual specialists have been used to obtain information from the allowance specialists at the Labour Office. The finding that resulted from the work is that, out of the three possible alternatives, the three-year alternativ eis the most frequent choice and the two-year alternative is selected by the lowest number of women. The employability of women and the number of children they take care of are the most important criteria affecting thein choice. Low interest in the two-year-olds. Therefore, predominantly women planning another child in the upcoming period who will have to resolve the situation during their next parental leave opt for the two-year alternative. The influence of the mother´s education on the choice of an alternative has not been confirmed. In order to allow mothers with small children to make full use of the new three-speed system and to accomplish the desired effect, i.e. increase in female employment rates, I would recommend, first of all, regulating the ``nurseries`` in a new way, introducing part-time jobs and shared job positions. Without these measures, the new system cannot work efficiently.
