Polyamory: the new trend or return to the roots?
Hrstková, Michaela ; Kotík, Michal (advisor) ; Kozubík, Jan (referee)
The main theme of this bachelor thesis is the construction of intimacy in polyamorous relationships. Polyamory is a a practise of beeing allowed to have close emotional and sexual relationship with multiple people while all of the people concerned knows about it and agree with it. The transformation of the traditional nuclear family during last few decades encouraged a rise of polyamory and other non strictly monogamous relationships. I conducted a qualitative research consisted of parcipant observation in czech polyamory community and eight semi- structured interview with polyamorous people. These methods helped me to observe how intimacy is shared among more than two people and how they solve problems in relationship. In polyamory people emphasize even more on the values as openness, sharing, these values are also typical for strong intimate relationship as well as for the Giddens' idea of pure relationship. I also compare polyamorous to monogamous relationships.
