The Issue of Financing Symphonic Orchestras in the Czech Republic

Master thesis -The Issue of Financing Symphony Orchestras in the Czech Republic? is trying to present the example of 14 Czech symphony orchestras and a number of problems in financing, which they are supposed to solve. The development of professional ensembles in the past is used as a way to explain that the performing of music, which meets the contemporary aesthetic requirements, has never been self-sufficient and alike today hes been dependent on the donors. The evaluation of the operation of particular symhony orchestras is complicated because of the high variability of the basic conditions and quite frequent inaccuracies in the publicised figures. I used all information accessible to the public about financing of 14 symphony orchestras and tried to show the most distinctive differences in subsidies from their founders. In the end I wanted to show sketches of possible solutions of the permanent underfunding of professional music ensembles in the Czech Republic.

bachelor thesis on "Prague Symphony Orchestra in Czech musical life and the world" should assess the status of the entity, describe its history with regard to the history of other Czech and world´s orchestras. It should describe the reasons for the successful survival of the orchestra in the first decade of its existence, and also specify the mein persons who conducted the orchestra or became its directors. I would like to be thought of little interest in classical music in Bohemia and proved that this was always, in addition to tense moments in the history of the Czech nation. My bachelor work should analyze the reasons of small economic self-sufficiency of the entity and compare some characteristics with selected European orchestras.
