Ecotoxicity of wastewater

This diploma thesis deals ecotoxicity wastewater with a focus on wastewater of Motol University Hospital. Motol University Hospital is the largest hospital in the Czech Republic and has the largest production of wastewater. Hospital wastewater contains many chemicals, pharmaceuticals, disinfectants, heavy metals etc.. And these substances cannot be completely eliminated during wastewater treatment. Such water is then taken into the surface and groundwater where it can be dangerous for the environment. There were studied infectious wastewater before disinfection and discharged wastewater desinfected by solution of a sodium hypochloride. Ecotoxicity was determined by acute toxicity tests which according to valid Czech technical standards, methodological guidelines and legislation. Tests were carried out to representatives of fish (aquarium fish Poecilia reticulata), zooplankton (daphnia Daphnia magna), phytoplankton (green algae Desmodesmus subspicatus), higher plants (white mustard Sinapis alba) and luminescent bacterium Vibrio fisheri
