Archaeo-geophysical survey of ditch enclosures in Kyjov I
Hašek, Vladimír ; Kovárník, J. ; Tomešek, J.
A site with two ditch enclosures by an aerial survey approximately 1000 - 1200 meters due south-west from the town Kyjov. The actual geophysical survey of the site focused on an area of some 180 x 150 m; a Canadian gradiometer OVERHAUSER GSM-19 (sensitivity 0,01 nT/m) continuous data acquisition. Our results showed that this structure includes two ditches of different sizes, filed with dark soil with higher magnetic susceptibility. Finds from this site include mostly fragment of pottery from Early Bronze Age. We also list a tool made of speckled silicate - the finds can be specified as the classical phase of Únětice culture.
Department of archaeological surveys and interdisciplinary cooperation Institute of Archaeology Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno: presentation of achievements and scientific orientation
Hašek, Vladimír
In 1994 the Institute of Archaeology of Czech Academy of Sciences Brno founded a new department focused on archaeological surveys and interdisciplinary cooperation. This department established partnership with a number of other institution, and participates on numerous archaeological projects. This article presents the most significant results and achievements of this department, both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
Geophysical survey and archaeological excavation in northern-eastern part of Tábor
Hašek, Vladimír ; Krajíc, R.
Archaeological excavation of Tržní náměstí (Market Square) in Tábor combined with an archaeogeophysical survey and prospect holes allowed the archaeologists to outline development of settlement in this part of Tábor from prehistory (Hallstatt Period) to industrialization (from 13th century buildings, walls, cultural layers, from 15th century new finds of the Hussite town - buildings, cultural layers, most of other relics date back to the Thirty Yers War - cultural layers, buildings).
Searching for Grave of Queen Constance
Hašek, Vladimír ; Tomešek, J. ; Unger, J.
By means of geophysical radar measurement in Tišnov Cistercian Church were localized a number of crypts. Some of this vaults could infer us about the burial place of the cathedral promoter Constance (the widow of king Přemysl Otakar I.).
Geological Survey and Archaeogeophysical Prospection at Historical Silver Mining Sites Located in Routes of Linear Buildings in the Czech Republic
Hašek, Vladimír ; Krajíc, R. ; Ondra, K.
Projected roads in the Czech Republic often cross areas affected by previous intensive mining of precious metals (gold, silver), the ground and underground mining has left behing a range of relics in form of various morphological depressions, occasionally folloved by relict of other objects linked to mining. In order to prevent emergence situations a complex of geophysical methods and drilling works is employed. This complex is an integral part of both geological research and rescue archeological research in these region. In order to demonstrate the practical usage of the disciplines mentioned above, we describe the prospection of highway route D between Mezno and Chotoviny in Tábor district, and ringroad I/38 in Jihlava.
Archeogeophysical Prospecting in Moravia in the Yers 1974-2000
Hašek, Vladimír ; Unger, J.
Geophysical methods exerted in complex with other scientific branches more than 25 at archaeological research of Czech Republic brought series of positive findings for solving of various tasks from paleolith to top medieval. The paper deals with the development of this discipline of science from methodology of in situ works over evaluation of measured data to practise presentation and confrontation the results with reality. These could be documented at a number of examples from problems of open and bastion settlements, necropolises, sacred and castle architecture, municipal historical centres, productive equipment atc.
Nondestructive Surveying Methods Applied at the Construction Site 0136, Highway D1 Říkovice - Přerov
Hašek, Vladimír ; Kovárník, J. ; Ondra, K.
A combination of archaeological data, and aerial and geophysical surveying over construction site 0136 Říkovice - Přerov (Highway D 1) has yielded a considerable amount of information, which suggest a relatively dense inhabitation especialy in the northern part of the construction site (right terrace in the valley of Bečva River in the vicinity of Přerov), and rather scarce indications in the southern part. An efficient combination of different methods brought about background information sufficient to subsequently excavate specific areas, which contributed significantly to reducing the costs and time necessary to complete the archaeological research.
Results of Geophysical Surveys and Archaeological Research of a Site in Horní lán, Olomouc-Slavonín
Hašek, Vladimír ; Kalábek, M. ; Peška, J.
A combination of geophysical methods and archaeological excavation was used to examine relatively large polycultural site of Horní lán in Olomouc-Slavonín. A geophysical survey conducted over area gave substantial information about positions of possible finds; subsequent excavations unearthed more than 4350 structures, mostly prehistoric semisubterranean structures, a part of a linear ditch and about 200 burials (prehistoric and early medieval). At this point of time, Horní lán is one of the most completely examined archaeological sites in the Czech Republic. We cannot overemphasize the importance of geophysical methods to our research.
A sacral building in the Smaal yard adjacent to the cathedral of St. Václav in Olomouc
Drobilíková, P. ; Hašek, Vladimír ; Hlobil, I. ; Zapletal, J.
This article describes the finding of a sacral building - a small church (found in a Small yard adjacent to the cathedral of St. Václav). Geophysical survey over the area determined substantial features of the church - 14 m long and 11 m wide. Our results have revealed about the archaeological history of this place, in the second half of the 9th century AD there was constructed a sacral stone mound with iron ingots, around the mound was a clay - and - timber wall reinforced by stone elements. A large midden was found in front of the walls, with deposits from the 10th through the beginning of the 12th century. In the midden was found a burial from the 11th century and a huge quantity of sherds, animal bones, etc. On a destroyed part of the walls was constructed a small sacral building at the beginning of the 12th century, demolished in 1131, when the cathedral´s construction began.
