Students understanding of the interdisciplinary relations on the topic of the role of vegetation in solar energy distribution and water content in the landscape
HOTAŘOVÁ, Natálie
Presented thesis focuses on interdisciplinarity in teaching - interdisciplinary relations between biology and other natural sciences - physics, chemistry, geography and maths in correlation with the issue of the role of vegetation in the landscape. In relation, theoretical chapter partially concentrates on the role of vegetation in landscape, its position in Framework Educational Programme, problems of STEM education and the definition of other important terms.Aim of the thesis was to determine, how are pupils capable of apllying of interdisciplinary relations. Practical part sustains of obtaining the data through a survey using questionnaires. The intention was to find out how are the students familiar with the theme. in lower classes of multi-year grammar schools in the year of studies paralel to the ninth grade in primary school. Results of the questionnaire survey are summarized in conclusion part. The survey was led in verbal and graphic form and the results were used to determine the level of comprehension the interdisciplinary relations and their practical applications.
Teachers attitudes to the education of the topic of the role of vegetation in the solar energy distribution and water content in the landscape
HOTAŘOVÁ, Natálie
This bachelor thesis deals with biology teacher's approach to the topic in the role of vegetation in distribution of solar energy and water preservation in landscape. The aim of the practical part is to detect opinions and attitudes of teachers about this particular topic. Main terms and facts concerning this topic are shown in introduction, such as landscape types, distribution of solar energy, flora´s cooling systems and small water circulation. The other part deals with the issue in Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education and subsequently three education programmes are analysed. The theme of teacher´s influence and pupil motivation was introduced as well. The practical part includes results of questionnaires distributed among biology teachers. It contains information about demographic composition of respondents and commented graphs presenting answers to individual questions. The results have shown that the theme of the role of vegetation in distribution of solar energy in landscape is taught very little. The teachers teach about small water circulation in landscape, but without a connection with transpiration which is at the beginning of the process. That is why the role of vegetation in water preservation in nature is underestimated. The main reason for omitting the topics is poor teacher's knowledge.
