Reproduction and hybridization in ferns
HORNYCH, Ondřej
This thesis studies several aspects of fern reproduction and hybridization. Aspects of multiple stages in the fern life cycle are analyzed. Specifically, rates of spore abortion and antheridiogen usage are assessed and compared between various groups. Own cultivation and spore assessment data are compared extensively with existing literature. Finally, the rate of hybridization in natural populations and the symmetry of hybridization is analyzed in buckler ferns (Dryopteris carthusiana group).
Analysis of spore abortion in ferns
HORNYCH, Ondřej
Spore abortion rate was studied for a total of 109 samples belonging to 23 fern taxa. The resulting abortion rate was compared within several reproductive and phylogenetic groups. The method of spore abortion estimation was optimized by analyzing the amount of spores needed as well as the potential differences within frond.
Changes in plant composition and diversity depending on previous and current management types in riparian forests at the confluence of rivers Morava and Dyje: phytocenological analysis at the gradients of light and moisture conditions
HORNYCH, Ondřej
Effects of various past and present management types on plant composition and diversity were examined in the species rich area at the confluence of rivers Morava and Dyje. A phytocenological analysis was supplemented with information about water and light conditions. Plant composition regarding residence time and invasive statuses was also examined for each management type.
