The function of the language in the novel written by Herta Müller

This bachelor's thesis deals with the literary analysis of the novel Atemschaukel written by Herta Müller. It concentrates mainly on the quality of her language. At the start it contains short chapters, which belong to the introduction, such as author's life, her forced removal from Romania to Germany or the short characteristic of her literature. This thesis speaks about existentialism, which sways the author a lot and doesn't forget to compare the author's novels with the literature of Franz Kafka. The main task is primarily the work with the language. According to literal - theoretical science of Gerard Genette it analyzes narrative strategy, theme and motive of the novel. It follows stylistic analysis, detailed research of vocabulary, of linguistic categories, of phrases and the work with the theory of text. The task is concluded with an appreciation of her absolutely original evidence about life in a work camp and this evidence is built in the opposite to the author's perfect work with the language and word itself.
