Ethical Principles of Helpers´Professional Approach to Disabled People in Wheelchairs

The thesis aims to identify the most important ethical principles that should be part of the professional approach of helping professionals towards disabled people in wheelchairs, however, their application involves members of the majority society, too. The thesis then refers to the conditions that support application of these principles in helping professionals and the historical development of the care of disabled people in wheelchairs. The thesis includes an important part that presents a conducted research dealing with these principles from the view of disabled people in wheelchairs and helping professionals themselves. Thus the main aim of the research is to compare the two perspectives.
Physically Handicapped People in Wheelchairs and Their View of Physical and Psychological Barriers

The work is devoted to disabled people who are confined to wheelchairs. It focuses primarily on the barriers which these people face, and that are in their view the most problematic. The theoretical part focuses on two kinds of barriers ? physical and psychological barriers. The practical part then evaluates the carried research based on the interviews with the clients of 1. Centre for the Disabled in South Bohemia in České Budějovice and other people moving in a wheelchair from vicinity. The center provides its clients the opportunity to exercise and improve their physical condition, as it works as a fitness centre fully adapted for disabled people.
