The evolution of phonological and morphological abilities of a preschool child
HADAČOVÁ, Lenka
This bachelor thesis focuses on phonological and morphological abilities of pre-school children that affect their reading literacy development. The main objective of this thesis is to outline the possibilities of development of these abilities in the Montessori kindergarten environment. The thesis is divided into two parts - a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with basic principles of the Montessori pedagogy. Furthermore, it focuses on the language acquisition process and the language speech level. At the end of the theoretical part, tools for common Montessori education focused on basic language knowledge acquisition in the junior pre-school age are mentioned. The practical part consists of determination of research questions related to the topic and a qualitative investigation of pre-school children. The initial state of phonological and morphological abilities was found out by standardized tests in this investigation. On the basis of the detected results, children are motivated to activities and work with tools which should support the development of their weakened areas. The particular research methods are described in the methodical part. Activities for weakened sectors including the evaluation precede the comparison of entry and control test results. Research questions are answered and summary is carried out in the conclusion.
