Furniture, design, function and fine arts

My work analyses the matters of furnituring, from first ancient creations to present days. I focus on characteristic features of historical periodes their development among variously levelled societies. I also reffer about restauration and repairs, and I think about the use of antique furniture in our times. I also mention the modern flow of designers or the Feng Shui, a method of setting the furniture in the household. Part of my work is commited to the display of furniture in the graphic art from 16th to 19th century. Didactic par of my work is focused on Arts, as a subject taught at the first level of basic school. I also conceived my own draft of an Arts lesson. The goal of my work is to create a summary of general knowledge about the topic with focus on it's history as well as to provide an insight to the core of furnituring, given the aspect of graphic art. TITLE: Graffiti, Street art and specifics of subculture AUTOR: Sylva Popová DEPARTMENT: Department of Art Education SUPERVISOR: Mgr. Erika Grendelová ABSTRACT: The work is devoted to graffiti and its subculture in Prague. The work is focused on the old part of the town, where many monuments, buildings, walls, columns are marked by this art. The work presents graffiti in all its forms, both legal and illegal and tries to figure out where is the border between vandalism and art, then investigates the graffiti author's relationship to history, to other people's property, the attitudes of the population towards this subculture and the expression in spray. Bachelor work deals with a playground and its different roles. The work describes the significance of the playground and concetrates on the forming of the psychomotory aspect of a child personality by concrete game elements. It defines conception of "leisure time" and its signification. The work also deals with the equipment of public playground and its requirements for safety. Analyzes selected playgrounds in Prague 9 - Prosek and makes an inquiry if newly reconstructed playgrounds match the requirements of children and their parents.

TITLE: Fragments of narration in comics (Comics phenomenon in art education) AUTHOR: Mgr. Erika Grendelová DEPARTMENT: Department of Art Education SUPERVISOR: doc. ak. malíř Ivan Špirk ABSTRACT: The thesis deals with logics of narration in comics (as a visual narrative). It looks for a new approach to the structure of this medium, analyzes its structure from a narrative point of view and it further transfers this new knowledge to art education practice in a form of research project for high school students (in the first grade). In this part of the research, different students' approaches towards reading and creating visual narratives were identified, in particular the use of fragments of visual culture. This dissertation is thus a contribution to a view on visual culture as an important part of teaching the art education.
