Baroque text and diachronic corpus
FORSZTÁKOVÁ, Jana
The subject of this bachelor thesis is related to the transcribed versions of the two sermons by the baroque author Ondřej František Jakub de Waldt. The theoretical section describes the individual stages of the Baroque period and their distinguishing features. The following part deals specifically with the baroque literature and the famous literary figures of that time who contributed to exploring the Baroque period. The last chapter of the theoretical section looks into particular editors and their editions, more specifically into their means of transcribing a text. The practical section analyses two sermons Na Den Nového léta and Na Den Hromnic written by de Waldt. At first, the thesis explores the phonetic and grammar aspects of the sermons. Afterwards, the two sermons are analyzed in terms of used lexis. More specifically, this part of the thesis deals with lexical words used in the Baroque period and lexical loan words. Next, the analysis of the figurative and rhetorical means used in both sermons is presented. The last chapter of the practical part discusses the selected Saints to whom Waldt refers in his sermons.
