Egorova, Anastassia ; Kochan, Jan (advisor) ; Žalek, Lukáš (referee)
The area around the Caspian Sea is between Europe and Asia and due to its strategic location it has been the place where the interests of world powers intersect for centuries. Moreover, in recent decades, it acquires a new dimension in connection with the local raw material supplies. New players are attracted to the Caspian region in addition to the traditional players, such as China, the United States or the European Union. The aim of this work is to answer the question of the influence of external factors, in particular the relevant external actors, current foreign policy of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan - relatively recently formed independent states bordering the Caspian Sea. The aim of this research is to to outline the actual distribution of powers in the regional system and to estimate local future development in terms of international relations. From the European perspective, the important conclusion of this study is to evaluate the chances of the European Union to achieve its own foreign policy goals and to formulate its strategy towards this (not only) on Caucasus-Central Asian region.
