The Application of Critical Geopolitics to the Study of Resistance
Drobík, Tomáš ; Hnízdo, Bořivoj (advisor) ; Romancov, Michael (referee) ; Ištok, Robert (referee)
This thesis "The application of critical geopolitics to the study of resistance" is divided in two main parts. In the first part it discusses theoretical approaches of human and political geography which have lead to the conceptualization of critical geopolitics. Mainly it deals with radical, Marxist, postmodern and feminist geographies. It opens a broad debate over particular theoretical aspects of traditional geopolitics which contrasts sharply with the approach of critical geopolitics. In the second, application part of the thesis, critical geopolitics is linked to the study of resistance which is conceptualized as antigeopolitics. Furthermore, the thesis continues with two case studies. The first one deals with the phenomenon of Islamism. Predominantly it makes an effort to show how spatio-political discourse of islamistic actors is deployed as a strong ideological and mobilisational instrument. The second case study maps the spatio-political discourse in Czech society during the intensive debates over the location of the US radar base in the Brdy Mountains. The principial objective of this chapter is to demonstrate the impact of geopolitical culture on two campaigns. First, the pro-radar base campaign launched by government of the Czech Republic and, second, the antiradar base campaign organized by...
Islamization of Development Assistance of the States of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Kosovo
Volný, Vít ; Jelen, Libor (advisor) ; Drobík, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis deals with the developmental assistance and humanitarian aid from the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Kosovo. The goal is to understand what role plays a religion plays in developmental assistance and humanitarian aid in Kosovo. This thesis investigates the forms in which the process of Islamization of development assistance occurs, and how civil society and states cope with it. Methodologically, the author employs the principles of a case study: qualitative research was conducted in Kosovo using the methods of participant observation and semi-structured interviews. The thesis covers the development projects of GCC organisations and agencies and will show that religion has a key influence on these efforts. Regarding the practices used in Kosovo, the author shows that the states of GCC use development assistance and humanitarian aid as a mean of spreading religious teachings and beliefs of the Gulf region. Kosovo society has not been immune to these activities and Salafism (and in minority Jihadism) has gained followers in the Muslim community. However, the thesis shows that since 2014 with the help of the state structures, radical Islam has been on the decline while the GCC organisations spreading it, are no longer operational in Kosovo. Key words: development assistance,...

Life of Homosexuals in Context of Roman-Catholic Church Teaching
Šimková, Hana ; Bauerová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Drobík, Tomáš (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the approach of Roman-Catholic Church to homosexuals and as well on claims and limitation caused by this approach. I especially try to find out why the attitude towards homosexuals and their relationships is so hard, strict and non"compromised. What is the basic for condemnation of homosexual life? Are ways out in RCC ́S teaching about homosexuality indisputably truthful? The main aim of my thesis is to answer these question. Roman-Catholic Church has a huge requirement, which demands from homosexuals, nothing less than to be clean for the rest of the life. This requirement does not have any analogy neither in the heterosexual part of population or in clergy. Therefore it is necessary to know all circumstances, which lead RCC to this requirement. In fact it ment to focused on biblical passages used by RCC as an argument to condemnation homosexual relationship. Moreover, I had to analyse the style of work with these arguments in RCC ́S documents. As if the requirement is not based on relevant facts and truthful principles, than this approach to homosexuals should has been changed. Gradually during my work, it gets more and more evident that the negative approach to homosexual relationship does not stand on the firm basis. The way of style at work with biblical passages...
