The issue of communication with patients with hearing impairment as part of nursing care at a hospital with inpatient department.

Abstract The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of communication of nurses with patients with hearing disadvantages within the framework of nursing care. Objectives of work: Find out what are the barriers in communication between the nurse and the patient with hearing disadvantage. Map the experiencedness of hearing-impaired patients in nursing care. Map nurses' communication knowledge and specific approaches to patients with hearing disadvantage. Find out the availability of accessibility tools and an interpreter in the inpatient department. Methodology and research set: Four research questions have been selected to achieve the objectives. What barriers occur in communication between nurse and patients with hearing disadvantage? What is the experie of patients with hearing disadvantages in nursing care? There are concerns about the communication between the sister and a patient with a hearing disadvantage? What is the nurse's experience and knowledge of communicating with patients with hearing disadvantages in nursing care? What form of communication will nurses choose in communication with patients with hearing disadvantage? What is the availability of facilitation or an interpreter in the department? The research investigation will be carried out by a qualitative research strategy, a form of anonymous semi-structured conversation will be used. The research package was made up of The data was converted into a text form, then the data was encoded. 9 nurses from three departments of two selected South Bohemian hospitals. The second set consisted of 8 patients with hearing disadvantage. The interviews obtained were recorded on a digital answering machine. Recommendations for practice: Include courses in nurses' education that can show the sisters how to communicate with a patient with a hearing disadvantage. Include in practice also pictograms, pictures of the finger alphabet, brochures that can facilitate communication with patients with hearing disadvantage. Last but not least, courses on how to use tools to facilitate communication. Use and contact of interpretation services in the treatment of such a patient.
