The aim of the bachelor thesis was to evaluate the influence of the order of lactation on the relaxation behavior of Holstein cattle in free stabling. The experiment was done during the calendar year 2017 and once was done in the summer (July) and once in the winter (December). The object of the experiment was one section in free box stable, there where 77 cubicle placed in the three rows. In the one section were always 74 cows. In total, were evaluated 296 cases. There was observed cows relaxing behavior (number of lying and standing cows, or laterality) and at the same time the static air temperature (°C) was measured using a mercury thermometer. Of the total number of dairy cows (296 cases), dairy cows were either standing (114 cases) or lying (182 cases). Cows stood either in the cubicle (36 cases) or outside the cubicle (78 cases). The cows were either on the left side (110 cases) or on the right side (72 cases). The difference in laterality was statistically highly potent (p < 0.01). The results also show that dairy cows were more lying than standing and if they were lying, they preferred more left hips (p < 0.01) with the exception of dairy cows at 4th and higher lactation, which preferred to lie rather right side (p > 0.05).
