Motivation and sustainability of volunteers
Buksová, Alena ; Pospíšilová, Tereza (advisor) ; Dohnalová, Marie (referee)
This master's thesis describes and analyzes the testimonies of long-term volunteers from the animal advocacy organization, Svoboda zvířat (Animal Freedom). The theoretical part provides an overview of professional sources, concepts, and models related to volunteering, motivation for long-term volunteering, and volunteer sustainability. The conceptual model of the causes of long-term volunteering by Louise A. Penner (2002) was crucial for this thesis, upon which the empirical part of the work was built. It includes authentic testimonies from long-term volunteers of Svoboda zvířat. The aim was to determine what motivates volunteers from the advocacy organization for animal rights to engage in volunteer activities, what encourages them to sustain long-term volunteering, and what, on the other hand, discourages them from volunteering. Keywords: volunteer, volunteering, nonprofit organizations, civil society, motivation, sustainability
