Medieval fortress in Třebovětice
Drnovský, Pavel ; Klápště, Jan (advisor) ; Brych, Vladimír (referee)
This work processes archaeological research of former medieval fortress standing in the village Třebovětice (district Jičín), which was passed in the year 1921. The excavation works were directed by prof. Emil Dufek, who exposed the southern part. The fortress was for the first time mentioned in written sources in the year 1447 and for the last time is stated in the year 1682. The most of discovered masonry was founded on massive wooden stilts and beams. The extant cutting of one of the stilts was sent to dendrochronological analysis (discover date 1328+x). Altogether 268 archaeological finds were discovered. The acquired collection contains artefacts and ecofacts (pottery, ceramic tiles, glass, iron articles, bones of animals, leather). Part of work is a catalogue of all finds, including corresponding pictorial supplement. Processing brought us wealth of knowledge, concerning gentry's life in east Bohemia in the Middle Ages and early modern times.
