The swedish choral phenomenon.
Hájek, Michal ; KOUTNÍK, Tomáš (advisor) ; BRYCH, Jaroslav (referee)
In Sweden there is a large amount of top-class choirs today as well as lots of excellent and demanding compositions for a cappella with professional ensembles. In my master thesis I analyse this interesing phenomenon. In the first chapter I take a look at the history. I examine various aspects which had formed Swedish choral art in the 18th and 19th centuries. In the second chapter I describe the development of the Swedish choral music in the 20th century, especially the activities of a famous choirmaster and teacher of music, Eric Ericson. In the third chapter I analyse the nature of the Swedish choral sound ( attaching also some recordings). In the last chapter I present a few excerpts from the scores of the crucial Swedish choral music pieces of the 20th century. It turns out that the Swedish choral miracle is the result of a long-time development and that numerous historical, cultural, musical and sociological aspects are involved.

Vorlíček, Marek ; Brych, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Brych, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Chvála, Jiří (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to show the history and presence of the choir Čerchovan from Domažlice. I have taken notice of the beginnings of organised choir singing, but most of all I have observed important people who have changed in choimaster position. These personalities have influenced and formed the choir work during more than one hundred years of its existence. The individual chapters are dedicated to the choirmasters and conductors who are well known people in their profession even outside the region. As for example Václav Flegl, Božena Hezká, Jan Závacký or Václav Cibulka. The thesis is presenting contemporary work of Čerchovan in its last 13 years in form of a list of its activities.Čechovan has a long history and nowadays is one of the succesful amateur choirs.
Musical form of Stabat Mater
Židek, Tomáš ; Mátl, Lubomír (advisor) ; Mátl, Lubomír (advisor) ; Brych, Jaroslav (referee)
Thesis "Stabat Mater as a Musical Form? with the analysis of Foerster?s cantata deals with the origin of a sequence Stabat Mater Dolorosa, its poetic and contentual structure, its liturgical position and most of all with the frequency and typology of its musical conversion. To illustrate the problematics the thesis quotes various Czech translations of this famous poem in context of strophic songs and especially presents an analysis of cantata Stabat Mater, op. 56 by Josef Bohuslav Foerster, who filled this vocal piece with both formal unity in sense of Cecilian reform of church music and a specific musical-expressive meaning.
