TITLE: Alternative punishment possibilities for juveniles AUTHOR: Barbora Baslová, DiS. DEPARTMENT: Department of Special Education SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Jana Mottlová, Ph.D. Abstract: The thesis deals with the issue of juvenile delinquency and punishment possibilities, in particular the alternative ones. The thesis describes alternative punishments from the point of view of the justice system and how they are perceived by society. Consequently, the thesis introduces potential reasons of juvenile delinquency, the role of the family, school, and peer groups in the upbringing process. The thesis is also focused on the institutions concerning with juvenile delinquency and participating in criminal proceedings. Activities of the Probation and Mediation Office are described in detail. The last but not least matter is the possibility of prevention programmes in the Czech Republic and abroad. The aim of the thesis is the analysis of professional literature dealing with alterative punishments for juveniles, several juvenile study cases are stated, as well.
