Problematics of nursing care for restless patients

Bachelor thesis aims at a problematic of the nursing care of the restless patients. It studies restless behaviour, which is considered as a manifestation of current clinical state, therefore it cannot be evaluated as an intentional behaviour. With respect to the facts accompanied with the restless behaviour, an awareness about the problematic is crucial. Considering the specifics accompanied with the nurse caring of the restless patients, the medical staff should be well oriented within this field.The thesis is divided into theoretical and research part. In the theoretical part, restless behaviour and its causes are explained together with the approach to aggressive patients and restrictive interventions. Furthermore, nursing care before/during/after the restriction is examined together with communication methods and legal issues. The research part was realized using a semi-structured interview. The interview was built up out of 18 questions. Research subjects were carefully selected nurses from psychiatric, internal, and neurological clinics. Collected data were processed into 4 categories and 14 sub-categories. In the third category, a short observation focusing on all-round hygiene of the restless patients was conducted.The research shows, that it is essential to keep in mind communication rules with the restless patient, to know about a correct approach to such patient, and to be able to quickly react to any occurred situation.
