ABRAMČUKOVÁ SEMRÁDOVÁ, Iva
The bachelor thesis deals with the motivation of the volunteer therapists in the Social Clinic project, which provides short-term psychotherapy to people in difficult circumstances and can not afford usually available treatment for financial reasons. The main aim of the bachelor thesis is to map the motivational structure of the volunteer therapists to their volunteer activities. The theoretical part characterizes and defines volunteering, describes the approaches to motivation for volunteering and brings closer the Social Clinic project. The core of the practical part is the case study of the organization, which brings closer the knowledge of motivation of volunteers thanks to the quantitative and qualitative research. The research sample consisted of 64 volunteer therapists from the Social Clinic project (total selection) and the qualitative research was conducted in seven of them (4 women, 3 males). The VFI (Volunteer Functions Inventory) and semi-structured interviews were used to collect data. The results of the survey show that in the motivation of volunteers in the Social Clinic project are represented all 6 basic themes in this order: values, understanding, social relationships, empowerment, career, defense. The highest representation was demonstrated in value motivation characterized by altruism and humanitarian aid to others. Another motive that has emerged as important for the volunteer therapists is the motive for understanding that expresses the need to acquire new learning experiences and to develop existing skills. Other motives were not so significant to therapists. The bachelor thesis also provides a deeper insight into the most represented motives and also monitors the tendency of motivation of the therapists according to the length of their volunteer activity and the length of their psychotherapeutic practice.
