The dignified dying in the long-stay hospital

1. Present state of the issue concerned: the Bachelor thesis is focused on the area of palliative care in LDNs (institutions for long term sick people). Terminal care is an up-to-date topic, because in our society the percentage of long-term incurably ill who need professional care is continuously rising. The care of dying people in the Czech Republic is still not sufficient and therefore it is appropriate to deal with this issue. 2. Objective of the thesis is to find out whether crucial differences exist in the perception of the complex palliative care between the professional care providers and the family in the bio-psycho-socio-spiritual framework. 3. Research questions: What is the weakest point of the complex palliative care according to the professional care providers? 2. What is the weakest point of the complex palliative care according to the family? 4. Description of the method: use of qualitative research, basic group present health workers, family members and friends of the patients hospitalised in the LDN. Methods and techniques of the data collection: structured interview, participating observation, analysis of personal documents. 5. Assumed practical use of the thesis: improving awareness of lay and professional public in the issue concerned.
