Diagnostics of Lexical-semantic Level of Language for Pre-school Age Children and for Children with Specific Language Impairment

This thesis examines the diagnostics of the speech development of pre-school children with the main focus on the lexical- semantic language plan and moreover, it compares the intact speech development to the impaired speech development among children who suffer from specific language impairment (SLI). The work conducts a survey of the diagnostic possibilities regarding the field of lexis and semantics among pre-school children, introduces the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test method and evaluates its possible adaptation into the Czech language environment. There are two main parts of the thesis: the theoretical and the empirical one. The first mentioned presents the most important theories and personalities in the field of speech development and acquisition, the ways of lexicon, vocabulary and semantics assessment methods both in the Czech Republic and abroad and specific language impairment as such. The second, empirical, part verifies the possibility of using the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test method in the Czech language environment. The quantitative research was applied and in each of its stages the data from 411 tested people were obtained. Play Therapy for Children in Divorce Situations

The aim of this Theses was to investigate the effect of play therapy on children whose parents are either divorced or divorcing. This study is qualitative, adopting a casuistic approach. In the theoretical part, the stages of divorce, child's adaptation to divorce and individual non- directive play therapy are described. The practical part consists of five case studies showing practical application of play therapy. The analysis is based on ten cases (children aged three to nine years, four boys and six girls). Data were analyzed using open, axial and selective coding. Play therapy for children in divorce situations is an appropriate therapy tool for children whose both parents agree with the treatment and the child meets the indications. Children respond positively to play therapy, they express the family conflict. The results of the study open possibility for further research in the field of non-directive play therapy. Algae and cyanobacteria in the context of sustainable development

The subject of the thesis is the potential of microscopic algae and cyanobacteria and its research at the ALGATECH Center, Institute of Microbiology, Czech Academy of Sciences. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the potential uses of algae and cyanobacteria, including situating the potential within the context of sustainable development. Furthermore, concepts such as science and research, normal and post-normal science, basic and applied research are defined. To understand the issues, key factors influencing science in the Czech environment are also illuminated. The aim of this qualitative research is to gain insight into the research and cultivation of microscopic algae and cyanobacteria. To thoroughly understand the complexity of the issue, the thesis poses additional research questions concerning factors influencing the cultivation and research of microscopic algae and cyanobacteria. These questions are answered through data collection via semi-structured interviews and documents. The collected data are sorted and analyzed using framework analysis. Joint custody - its assumptions, strengths and potential weaknesses in the light of psychology

This bachelor thesis deals with joint custody in relation to its assumptions, strengths and potential weaknesses in the light of psychology. The theoretical part provides insight into the context of the form of contemporary family, with the issue of divorce and its impact on all involved individuals and with different forms of parenting. The legislative grounding of post divorce child care and its possible forms in the Czech legal order is also covered. The psychological assumptions of joint custody of both the parents and the child are emphasized to a great extent. On the basis of these findings are drawn possible strengths and weaknesses of joint custody. Last but not least are presented different approaches to joint custody among a few selected countries. The final part of this thesis is designed as qualitative research project focusing on the evaluation of joint custody from the perspective of individuals who have personal experience with this post-divorce arrangement. Various psychological aspects of children's drawings

This diploma thesis focuses on the psychological aspects of drawings of preschool children from complete and incomplete families. In the theoretical part the child's drawing is described as one of the basic manifestations of the semiotic function and it emphasized its importance in the process of cognitive maturation. Drawing is also taken into consideration as a projective diagnostic method. In the research part we interpret drawings by children of different ages in the preschool period with an emphasis on cognitive maturity of the individual and family relations with consideration to the projective function of drawings. The results may lead to a better understanding of children's perception thanks to the interpretation of various drawings.

Problem behavior in children with autism spectrum disorder

Bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of problem behavior in children with autism spectrum disorders. It defines the term autism spectrum disorders, brief description and the prevalence. It also discusses the problem behavior, the definition and specific examples. Attention is also paid to the causes and role of this behavior for children. It describes the most common problem behaviors and interventions that work with it. The theoretical part concludes with a chapter devoted to applied behavioral analysis, which is working with problem behavior very successful. Briefly outlines the history of this therapeutic approach, its basic principles when working with problem behavior and possible negatives. Psychological burden of family caregivers of seniors with dementia and its aspects in the family system

Taking care of seniors with dementia in the home environment can prove itself difficult not only for the individuals burdened with the main caretaking, but it is also challenging for their close family relationships. There is usually some way of sharing the care in the families, where more family members are put into a caregiver's position. Based on the semistructured interviews with the family caregivers this paper describes the alterations of the family relationships and the forms of support between the family members, as well as the common conflicts and rejections. The issue is being described from the point of view of the caregivers with a direct, actual and long-time experience in the home caregiving. Also the data of the interviews has been shortly compared to the information retrieved from the anxiety, depression and burden inquiries, all collected among the respondents. Psychosocial situation of siblings of chronically ill children

Chronic illness of a child has an influence over the whole family system. Despite this fact healthy siblings have been overlooked by the majority of research. Some foreign studies declare that this population is in higher risk of developing psychsocial problems. The purpose of this thesis is to conduct a closer study on psychosocial characteristics of the siblings of children with diabetes mellitus type 1. The main concern of the theoretical part is the review of current literature dealing with the topic of siblings of chronically ill child and their families. The conducted research included quantitative and qualitative methods exploring sibling psychosocial problems and prosocial behaviour, self-esteem, siblings attitude towards illness and family functioning. The results stress out the important relationship between sibling adjustment, self-esteem and individual and family characteristics. The results also present the main themes connected with siblings feeling of fear, sadness and anger, with applied coping strategies and perceived rewards and costs of the illness for family. Usage and Application of Fairy Tale Test in Czech Republic (for the boys from capital city 6-12 years old)

in English Usage and Application of Fairy Tale Test in Czech Republic (for the boys from capital city 6-12 years old) This graduate work deals with the Fairy Tale Test and its application in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part presents characteristics of children in preschool, early school and middle school age. This section is concerned with importance of the fairy tales for children and emphasis is especially laid on fairy tales that uses the Fairy Tale Test. It presents the problems with children's diagnosis and introduces the Fairy Tale Test. The empirical part deals with the practical use of the Fairy Tale Test in the Czech Republic. Test was used in 60 boys aged 6-12 years from the capital city. The obtained data of children 6-7 years old was compared with data of another region. The data of 8-12 years old was compared with the CPQ and Questionnaire style education using correlation analysis. The data show that the Fairy Tale test is a good diagnostic tool with broad application also in the Czech Republic. Hopefully it will be soon standardized for the Czech Republic. Psychological and social aspects of healthcare personnel's work with a dying patient

The goal of this thesis, "Psychological and social aspects of healthcare personnel's work with a dying patient", is to examine the socially unattractive issue of dying. Despite the fact that dying is a natural process, we often treat it with contempt and concern. We inspect this topic through a prism of healthcare personnel view, who is in contact with dying and death on a daily basis. In the theoretical part, we have first described the concept of death from historical point of view and afterwards we have narrowed it down to psychological-medical view of dying. Next, we have introduced the area of lenitive care for a dying patient, which is closely related to the topic of euthanasia. Of course, in relation to euthanasia, we then talked about medical ethics. This way we have circled around the relationship between a medic and his patient, the specifics of their communication, and finally we have described the psychological stress of healthcare personnel, possible coping strategies and eventual defensive mechanisms.
