Software Piracy and Cloud Computing
Špecián, Pavel ; Žamberský, Martin (advisor) ; Bruckner, Tomáš (referee)
The thesis focuses mainly on the interdependence of the cloud computing and the software piracy. It answers the question how they influence each other and which conditions are ideal to reduce the rate of the software piracy. In the introductory part there are basic terms explained which are related to cloud computing and software piracy. The second part follows that is based primarily on Business Software Alliance studies and devoted to the interaction of cloud computing and software piracy as well as to the influence of anti-piracy laws on cloud computing. The aim of the last part of the thesis is to analyze the cloud computing, its advantages and disadvantages and common risks related to cloud computing from the companies' perspective and therefore to show the factors which influence the decision making in the companies regarding whether or not to choose the cloud computing. This has an indirect impact on the software piracy rate. In this regard, the thesis concludes that the current rise of cloud computing is completely understandable in the given context. On the other hand, a significant abandonment of the traditional software in the foreseeable future is not to be expected.
