Voice/vocal cords - the working tools of a leisure time pedagogue
ČARNOGURSKÁ, Lenka
This work deals with voice and the vocal cords as the working tools of pedagogues not only of leisure time. It describes the structure and the workings of the vocal apparatus. It discusses voice typology and voice properties. It includes the basic division of voice disorders and speech impediments, their causes, and the possible ways of their treatment. It also summarises the principles of vocal hygiene along with the voice care options available. The crucial part of the work is the chapter concerning vocal practice, which gives information on specific breathing, vocal, and articulation exercises. Pedagogues belong among vocal professionals and are subjected to considerable vocal strain. Correct voice formation and care should be part of their lifestyle. At the same time, pedagogues are speech models to their pupils and students, and refined speech reflects on them.
