Energy use of biomass
Holečková, Michaela ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is the research of different types of biomass, description of the various types of methods and technologies for energy usage of biomass and the mapping of large power plant units in the Czech Republic. The first part of this thesis deals with the definition of biomass, its distribution and the description of basic essential attributes describing its composition. The downstream part of this work is focused on the technologies of gaining energy out of biomass or its possible conversion into other products depending on the currently discussed type of technology. The last part deals with energy balances of biomass in the Czech Republic and focuses on individual companies who use biomass as an energy source, by applying one of the methods mentioned in the previous part.
Tesla Bladeless Turbine
Lokaj, Jakub ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Fiedler, Jan (advisor)
The diploma thesis describes design of bladeless machine known as a Tesla turbine. The work is divided into theoretical part, practical part involving the design and experimental measurements of made bladeless turbine and a final assessment of thesis. The theoretical part deals with the basic design features of bladeless machines and their design modifications and flow in the nozzles. Furthermore there is a dedicated part of the dynamics of working fluid in the rotor of bladeless turbine represented by CFD modeling. The practical part includes the design and construction of parts of the turbine on a preliminary calculation using an analytical model of the flow in the turbine. The designed turbine components were checked for operational safety with structural calculations of shaft and disk impeller. The thesis was also performed experimental measuring of parameters of designed bladeless turbine. Measured values were compared with the analytical model which predicted turbine efficiency. In conclusion, besides to assessment, thesis also outlines possible proposals for further improvements of constructed bladeless turbine.
Turbochargers
Veleba, Lukáš ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Kracík, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor thesis describes the basic principles of turbocharger function with a focus on the causes and consequences of damage. In it’s four main parts, the thesis depicts the historical evolution of turbochargers, explains the basic principle of supercharging, offers a general classification of superchargers and introduces some of the lines of turbochargers being produced by manufacturers today. The key part is focused on the types of turbocharger damage dealt with at TurboCar, s.r.o.
Risk analysis of energy storage
Albert, Tomáš ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis analyzes the risk of accumulation of electrical energy and problems with its storage. The first part describes the various storage systems of electricity and are given their advantages and disadvantages. In the second part systems are compared against each other. The final section is intended suitability of each system and its use for application in the vicinity of Brno.
Steam Turbine for the Waste to Energy
Szelecky, Zsolt ; Fichtl, Richard (referee) ; Kracík, Petr (advisor)
The content of this thesis is the design of a condensing steam turbine with an output of 80 MWe to a waste incinerator with impulse blading. In this work are elaborated proposals and calculations of balancing schemes, which are used in the next part of the work as a foundation for calculation of the blades part of the turbine. The blades part is designed for two operations - for full condensing operation and for full demand operation. The turbine should contain one process offtake and three unregulated offtakes. Besides that, the thesis solves basic strength control. The thesis is finished with a technical drawing of the longitudinal cut of the turbine.
Cold production and trigeneration
Jordanov, Alexandr ; Toman, Filip (referee) ; Kracík, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis is recherché dealing with cool production. The aim of this thesis is present the main cooling system, their comparison, practical realisations, describe laws, which should cooling systems accomplish and assess influence on the environment. The first two chapters are about cogeneration and trigeneration. The main part of the thesis is focused on different methods of cooling, their advantages, disadvantages and their influence on the environment. Because of refrigerants in cooling systems, which have negative impact on health and environment, is part of the thesis dealing with law. At the conclusion of the bachelor thesis is the assessment of cooling systems and their forward-looking perspective present.
Effect of exchanger fouling and heat transfer coefficient
Konopiský, Karel ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This diploma thesis covers the influence of fouling in heat exchangers and heat transfer coefficient. In the first part of the thesis are covered the characteristics of fouling and its formation, process, and effects on heat transfer surfaces in exchangers. In the next part of the thesis, chemical analysis of cooling water is performed on an extracted sample and the potential of fouling is determined based on the analysis. In the conclusion part, computational models of fouling in the tube side of the heat exchanger are presented; fouling of an actual heat exchanger is calculated and compared with data captured during the operation of the heat exchanger.
Accumulation of energy in compressed air
Rešiliáno, Tomáš ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The thesis deals with the principle and issues associated with operation of the storage power stations, known under the acronym CAES (Compressed Air Energy Storage). Examples of existing and upcoming CAES power stations from commercial sphere are listed and described there. The paper also includes an overview of basic CAES station wiring diagrams and a simplified calculation is performed to compare the efficiency of the chosen diagrams. In the final part of the thesis there is a scheme of so-called adiabatic CAES designed and calculated. For this type of device has been designed suitable wiring and a thermodynamic calculation of the cycle was performed for the purpose of evaluation.
Steam turbine
Ondrůj, Jakub ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Kracík, Petr (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is a design and thermodynamical calculation of a steam condensing turbine with one controlled steam extraction and assigned technical specifications. Technical specifications are turbine inlet temperature 440,0 °C, pressure of inlet steam 38,0 bar(a), pressure in controlled steam extraction 13,0 bar(a), mass flow rate of steam in controlled steam exraction 0,0-40 t/h, temperature in deaerator 105,0 °C and temperature of cooling water in condenser 25,0 °C. Designed steam turbine works in a Rankine-Clausius cycle with a water-cooled condenser, system of low-pressure feed water heater, feed water tank with deaerator and steam boiler. Turbine was designed with regular turbine stages with reaction type of blading and with two regulation stages with impulse blading. An extraction turbine map of the steam turbine is shown in the last chapter of this work. Final parameters of steam turbine are power of 21,7 kW, internal efficiency of turbine 85,1 % and reheat factor 1,048.
Offshore and inland type of wind power
Chromec, Tomáš ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor‘s thesis focuses on wind energy sector. The first part describes the modern history of this industry. The brief description of the main differences between onshore and offshore wind farms followed an extensive chapter, which describes the diversification of wind power solutions and diversification in the case of wind farms located on the sea. Fluctuating needs for backup power sources in this work is included in chapter, which briefly describes the most appropriate energy storage devices. This is followed by section dealing with the economics of wind turbines. Possible negative impacts of wind energy are discussed in the final chapter about environmental impacts associated with wind power applications.
