Effect of additives in lead-acid batteries for hybrid electric vehicles
Tobolák, Jakub ; Křivík, Petr (referee) ; Bača, Petr (advisor)
This thesis is focused on lead-acid batteries used in hybrid electric vehicles. These batteries operate under partial charge, which brings problems with premature capacity loss. Tasks is to examine the influence of glass fibers as possible additives to the negative electrode of these cells in order to extend their life. The text describes the problem of hybrid electric vehicles, lead-acid batteries and other electrochemical sources.
Influence admixture in lead-acid battery for hybrid electric vehicles.
Svoboda, Marek ; Bača, Petr (referee) ; Bilko, Radek (advisor)
Lead-acid batteries of hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) are functioning in PSoC regime (Partial State of Charge). In PSoC regime new fail mechanisms occure. These mechanisms usually lead to nonreversible sulphation of negative electrodes. Main aim of this research is to avoid negative electrode sulphation and to improve lifetime of lead-acid accumulators used in HEV.

Kalas, Ladislav ; Bača, Petr (referee) ; Vaněk, Jiří (advisor)
This master's thesis is focused on properties of direct solar radiation, diffuse radiation and their usage in solar systems. Goal of this paper is to compare the different sources of light with the radiation and selection source for the solar radiation simulator, followed by a measuring device for homogeneous distribution of solar radiation and implemantation of solar simulator.
Equipment for measuring of solar radiation intensity
Stojan, Radek ; Bača, Petr (referee) ; Vaněk, Jiří (advisor)
This work deals with the features of solar radiation, especially the intensity of solar radiation. The work deals with measuring of solar radiation intensity by pyranometer. Sensor of solar radiation – pyranometer is described. There is described its principle and activities. A main part of this work is concept and creation of equipment for solar radiation intensity measuring. The measuring system consists of the pyranometer and the measuring equipment.
Investigation of temperature change in lead-acid accumulator for HEV
Tošer, Pavel ; Křivík, Petr (referee) ; Bača, Petr (advisor)
The oldest and also most used type of secondary cells is lead-acid accumulator. Basic functional principle stayed same as in foundation time, only operation parameters are still improving (for example one of the most important is lifetime). Significant technical problem is temperature of lead-acid battery and her influence on functionality and running reactions. Master thesis is focused on this section, when is necessary to evaluate new pieces of knowledge in development. The work deals with description existing types of accumulators, further deals with theory of temperature balance and in the end by measured datas and theirs analyzing.
Photovoltaic system for RAPS applications
Nevoral, Miroslav ; Bača, Petr (referee) ; Křivík, Petr (advisor)
The beginning of this work presents the basic principles of photovoltaic cells, their advantages and disadvantages. There is also an overview of photovoltaic systems. The next part takes a closer look on lead-acid accumulators followed by a practical part regarding the measurement of VA characteristics. The main goal of this work is to assemble an experimental PV system. It will consist of a PV module, an accumulator (consisting of two cells connected in series and producing an overall voltage of 5V) and of a variable load (assembled from nineteen resistors with resistance varying from tens to hundreds of Ohms). This system is connected to a computer that runs the control software which was created using the VEEPro 8.0 simulation environment. The measurements can be taken in two ways. Either the operator can select the load resistor combinations manually, or the operator only launches the measurement and the load is selected automatically by the software. This way we obtain an automatized workplace for measuring VA characteristics of photovoltaic panels.
Examination of temperature changes in lead-acid battery system
Starý, Viktor ; Křivík, Petr (referee) ; Bača, Petr (advisor)
In the automobile industry is always more often talking about hybrid electric vehicles at the present. Functioning of these hybrid automobiles is provided by source of energy. This source is represented by accumulator. When accumulator is working we can see temperature changes. This project is dealing with used types of accumulators for hybrid electric vehicles. In the second phase is dealing with enquiring of temperature changes during different modes of operating.
Waste heat recovery from technological processes
Bednařík, Jakub ; Bača, Petr (referee) ; Vaněk, Jiří (advisor)
Master thesis deals with the utilization of waste heat from Nova Mosilana company. Theoretical part of this work is focused on the waste heat description (heat, heat quantity, heat temperature/quality, composition of waste stream) in which a considerable energy potential is hidden. The other parts describe waste heat technology, especially heat pumps, Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) and system absorption cooling. Some of the technologies described in the theoretical part are used in the design of the more efficient existing waste heat utilization, especifically power and cold production.
Modified glass fibers as additives of the negative electrode of a lead-acid battery
Zbožínek, Tadeáš ; Zimáková, Jana (referee) ; Bača, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the working of lead-acid batteries in hybrid electronic vehicles. The goal is to increase the negative electrode characteristics of VRLA batteries. The negative electrode suffers significant degradation in the partial-state-of-charge mode, which is used for these vehicles. When the VRLA battery is being used in the partial-state-of-charge mode, premature loss of capacity occurs due to sulfation of the negative active mass. For these reasons we are trying to improve active mass with additives, which Is expected to interrupt the unwanted processes, that leading to capacity loss. We are focusing on a specific additive in form of glass fibers, which exhibits similar positive effect on the lifetime of the battery as a carbon additive. The surface of glass fibers will be modified. Afterwards, the influence of the modified glass fibers on the lifetime of the battery will be observed.
Preparation of a laboratory assignment for the Ecology of production subject
Dovčík, František ; Vaněk, Jiří (referee) ; Bača, Petr (advisor)
The thesis deals with the quality of water in general as well as from the perspective of water pollution, wastewater and its treatment within the context of electrotechnical production. The thesis is based on the laboratory task in the practical part, which has been included in the Ecology of Production class. The laboratory task tests the selected indicators of water quality using titration and rapid tests. The thesis is based on the wastewater operation of a company producing PCB.
