Theobald Boehm- reformer of flute

The thesis describes versatile personality of Theobald Boehm as the investor and constructor of contemporary type of german flute in 19th century. It catches in historical context which precedes his life and work, Boehm´s virtuoso carrier, pilgrimage of instrumentmaker, his work in the field of physic and metallurgy engineering through lifelong innovating of the flute. The considerable part of thesis is devoted to the evolution of that tool with mentioning basic technical facts of the flute. Contemporary, it is mentioned also consequentional development of flute´s literature and pedagogy which belong also to the work of Teobald Boehm as the propagator of his instrument, musical composer and excellent pedagogist. The picture demonstration of portraits, instruments and Boehm´s scheme is composed within text of thesis. In appendix, there is also demonstration of composed music and fluts from Boehm´s workshop.
French flute literature of the 20. century

The introduction to the Bachelor Thesis gives a view of social situation and musical life in Paris in the 20th century. The first chapter describes elegance of impressionistic music and examines the writings by Debussy and by other worthy composers of this period. The second chapter deals with the creation and significance of the Paris Six (Les Six) and besides that examines in detail the Sonata for Flute by Fr. Poulenc. The third chapter gives a view of the most significant concerts of the French literature in the 20th century, like the I. Ibert?s and A. Jolivet?s concerts. Furthermore there are the Ibert?s Concert for Flute and Orchestra and its formal analysis included in this chapter. The composers of the best-known sonatas and sole compositions for flute belong to this musical period. Their work influenced the flute play worldwide. The last part of the third chapter examines creation of the younger generation of composers. Their work diverts from deliciousness and softness of the French aesthetics and employs new expression methods and techniques of flute play.
